You know I love most of what he had to say, even though it was pretty houghty-toughty but I don't get that from the images I've seen of most of his buildings.

The Holocaust Museum yes, but the others, no. I don't find them liberating or freeing for human habitat but brutal and harsh expressions of his desire to stand out but still in a reasonably cliché manner. His style uses sharp lines and angles and material selection is equally brash. His buildings are meant to be loud and whilst they might be a source of liberation for the designer, I am in doubt of how liberating they are for the dwellers. These are not spaces that can be easily reconfigured and adapt to the needs of a city but finite statements of his aesthetic bravado. Where most can stand in appreciation of the beauty of classical architecture his buildings leave you feeling cold and fearful of it's chaos. Architecture in part is a reflection of the divine but to elevate it, and your own work, to that plane is not the preserve of a mere man.

WELL before 2001 I heard Architects Australia, AA.
We have a magazine known as AA - why not an Institue.
"HI, I'm John - I'm an Architect".
