In case you don’t know, the Stata Center is in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is an MIT. This was the “most Gehry” of the 3 Frank Gehry building I visited while in the US, the other two being the AIC Building and Beekman Tower, both in New York. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by it, and just a little excited to be seeing a Gehry building in the flesh. It was also interesting to see some of the less positive aspects of the building, including the lack of drainage in some places leading to the growth of moss and mould. Perhaps that was all part of Mr Gehry’s intention.
There’s a couple of articles that are worth a read over at MIT’s The Tech, which you can find here and here. Both pertain to MIT’s lawsuit against Gehry and the builder Skanska.
